Automated valve technology for detergent production

Precise control valves for chemically demanding processes in industrial detergent production.

In detergent production, precise dosing and control processes are crucial for product quality and process stability. Different chemical components, variable viscosities and continuous operation place high demands on valves and control technology. For a plant for the production of liquid detergents, a robust, media-resistant valve solution was therefore required, which operates reliably even under continuous load.

At a glance

  • Industry: Chemical industry
  • Application: Detergent manufacturing
  • Medium / Process: Chemical components with different properties
  • Challenge: Precise control with simultaneously high media resistance
  • STASTO solution: Use of slide valves type 8044
  • Result: High operational utilization and stable product quality

The challenge

In a plant for the industrial production of detergents, various chemical components must be precisely metered and controlled. The media used have different chemical properties and can place permanent stress on valve materials.

A highly precise control valve was required that enables stable flow control and is resistant to a wide range of chemicals. In addition to chemical exposure, continuous plant operation also plays a central role. Unplanned downtime or control deviations have a direct impact on mixing ratios and thus on product quality.

Standard valves with limited media resistance or restricted control characteristics did not sufficiently meet these requirements. In particular with regard to long-term stability and reproducible process control, a specialized solution was required.

The STASTO solution

For this application, sliding gate valves of type 8044 were used. This valve design is particularly suitable for precise control tasks in chemically demanding processes.

The design enables precise and reproducible flow control. At the same time, the selection of suitable materials ensures high resistance to the chemicals used. The valves were integrated into the existing automation concept in close coordination with the plant manufacturer.

By combining suitable valve technology, a coordinated actuator selection, and a process-appropriate design, a solution was created that meets the requirements of detergent production both in terms of control engineering and materials. Integration into the existing control technology enabled seamless incorporation into the overall process.

The result

The use of slide valves enabled a high operating capacity of the system. The precise control characteristics support a consistent dosing of the components and thus contribute to a constant product quality.

In addition, the solution proved to be reliable and low-maintenance in continuous operation. The chemical resistance of the valves used reduces wear and minimizes maintenance effort. Overall, a stable and process-reliable production environment was created.

Added value for machine builders

  • Precise control even with chemically demanding media
  • High media resistance due to appropriate material selection
  • Good integrability into existing automation concepts
  • Reduced maintenance effort in continuous operation
  • Reproducible process control in continuous production

This solution is particularly suitable for

  • Mixing and dosing systems
  • Process plants of the chemical industry
  • Plants for the production of cleaning agents and detergents
  • Applications with chemically aggressive media
  • Continuous production processes with high quality requirements
